Dan -- The new BQ shows a new version of the SON hub with special dropouts. No more plugs on the hub, the axle and dropouts carry the current up into the fork, then a wire goes to the headlight from there.

I''m enquiring about getting them, but I think they''d be for a later project.

Alex-
That looks great! I''m glad you tried building it the way Jeff likes. Please bring it along this weekend for the samba get together.
Tristram - I think you will find that the support for the fork blades is to ensure that they stay parallel to the axel axis and aren''t rotated around the steering axis. It doesn''t matter to how the bike rides but it''s annoying to look down at.

Tristham -- It would be easy to extend this to (c), just make another blade support and slide it down from above. I didn''t find it necessary on the one fork that I''ve built so far.

Great post. Thanks for sharing this.

I''m thinking along similar lines for my fork jig. I''m wondering about the support for the blades though. It seems like there''s 3 posiblities:
a) no support
b) a support like yours that constrains the blades in one direction or
c) a support that clamps down from above as well, constraining the blades in both directions.

What made you chose b) ?

I''m begining to see what a) is bad idea, but I''m interested to hear your reasoning, and I''m wondering why go for b) rather than c)?

Thanks again for the great post.

Rory -- I still want to talk to Schmidt about those dropouts, but I won''t be using them for this fork. At this point I just want to get the bike on the road.

Gareth -- It is just a hobby/personal interest thing. I like bikes and I like working with my hands during my personal time. Right now I''m taking a lot of vacation from work and that is giving me time to work on the bike.

Another fascinating article. Are you planning on making bikes to sell or is this just a personal interest?

Nope, I used Alistair''s bender. That is one item that I''m fine just borrowing someone else''s. He''s put a lot of effort into making a very good one, and it takes up a good chunk of space.
